Lalique - 'Hirondelles' Bookends
$1925 AUD
Item 3086
A pair of Art Déco glass bookends each modelled as a swooping swallow. Originally designed in 1928 as either a pair of bookends or a singular car mascot, which was produced on a circular base. Signed with post-war 'LALIQUE' signature.
French, Circa 1950.
- After the death of René Lalique in 1945 and when production resumed after WWII, the letter 'R' was removed from the signature. The style of this signature indicates these bookends were produced at approximately this time frame.
